ceiling-art

I thought I'd add this as a separate post, because it's really an interesting aspect of all the chateaux we visited: the use of ceiling space.  When you visit a chateau, don't forget to look up from time to time!   There's usually something interesting happening on the ceiling...
The F is for François I, and the salamander was also his symbol.

more of that ceiling...

ceiling at Azay-le-Rideau, depicting various kings, queens, nobles, etc.
